Lazy, cold, rainy afternoons aren't the same after you have kids. You can't be lazy. The boys only managed to take 2 short (ie. 45 minute) naps all day. According to everyone we talk to (other parents, doctors, the internet...) they should be taking 3 hour to hour and a half long naps a day. Yeah. Right. So, we played, we rocked, we consoled, we cleaned poop off the babies, furniture, and the floor, we fed, we medicated, and we counted the hours till bedtime. Now they have been asleep for a hour and a half and we are still doing the things around the house that we weren't able to get to this weekend. Soon, we'll crawl into our bed and hope that we don't get a wake up call from a baby for several hours.

Despite not getting our desired nap, we feel blessed. We are thankful that 2006 brought us two happy healthy babies who not only bring us joy, but joy to those who spend time with them. Their smiles makes us grin from ear to ear. Their laughs cause us to burst into fits of giggles. Their arms reaching out to us cause our hearts to swell with love and joy. In 7 months we've learned that the cliche "parenting is the hardest job you'll love" is really the truth. Even in our most exhausted times, we are thrilled and honored to be the parents of Grayson and Carter.

Happy New Year, everyone! :)

Who are these wonder children who take 3 to 4 1/2 hours of naps a day? I'd love to know their secrets!

I hear you on rainy days. All we wanted to do on Monday was take a nice, long nap. Colin wanted to crawl into the kitchen a hundred times.

Happy 2007 to you all!
