A brewery. Add a brewery or distillery to your stock portfolio - because if this weekend is any indication of the future, I am going to be breaking in to the bottle. Often.
Friday night we decided that it would be a good idea to pack up the team and go to Chicken Out for dinner and to the nicer Target 15 minutes from our house - rather then crappy (and under construction) Target across the street from our house. I thought we'd hit a great idea with Chicken Out. Chicken. Sweet potatoes. Applesauce. Biscuits. All foods they love. But Friday night? Not a chance. Not a bite. Just whining. Lots of whining. And of course we hit some freak traffic on the way home, thus delaying bedtime.
And then that night Carter was up a lot. He (and I) were up from 1a-3:30. I did finally relent and bring him to our bed after awhile and every time I thought he was asleep and would try to extract my arm (that was numb) he'd pop up and start chattering to us. UGH. Finally around 3:30, Leanne moved to the couch thinking that maybe she was distracting him. He did fall asleep, but HOLY MOLY he is a loud sleeper. Gray woke at 5:45 and then woke up Carter. To say I was grouchy on Saturday is an understatement.
Saturday they napped sparingly. We took them to the mall to get measured for new shoes (since it is finally supposed to cool off next weekend and they'd look silly with sandals) and then headed over to our friends' Chris and Brad to see them. We'd planned on getting there at 4:30 and leaving around 6. Of course, best laid plans....and we got there at 5:45. The boys had a fabulous time playing on their stairs (and figured out how to go down the stairs!) and then started finding everything they shouldn't touch and we bolted. Our (normally) 45 minutes ride turned into an hour and a half adventure.
We did get to sleep through the night last night...that is until Carter woke at 5:45am for the day and woke up Gray in the process. What is going on at 5:45am!?!??! It is not an acceptable time to get up. For anyone! :) This afternoon we went to a playgroup held by a couple in our multiples group and realized we have destructo children. This family just had gates propped in their doorways - not installed. They said their kids are scared of the gates. HUH? Not our kids. They pushed them over. Repeatedly. They found the 2 foot stack of magazines in the corner. They found a basket filled with shoes in the hallway. After an hour, we were exhausted from chasing them around the house and we left. I never think that our kids are busier/more destructive/more inquisitive than other kids - and then we go to playgroups where kids are just hanging out near their parents, playing with the provided toys, and not touching things that are "off limits." Oh well. I'll just chalk it up to having really inquisitive kids who want to explore their environment. I am sure it will serve them well.
This evening, Hutch came over to join us for an adventure of dinner and grocery shopping. He was a huge help in wrangling/chasing/carrying kids/playing with them. You don't realize how much help and extra pair of hands is - until you have them.
Now, it is 9pm and they've been asleep for an hour and a half. And I am REALLY REALLY hoping that we won't hear from them until AT LEAST 6:30am. Preferably 7am.
