Is it sad that Leanne and I just said to each other that we were looking forward to going back to work tomorrow so we can relax???  :)  Honestly, we've had a really good weekend - but you know life with 2 year olds...it can be tiring.

Friday evening we went to Red Robin for dinner.  Grayson gave me some hope that peaceful meals may be in our future.  He sat nicely in his highchair and ate his burger. He dipped his fries in his ketchup without wearing 90% of it. And when he was done, he just sat there and pointed out airplanes, talked, and hung out.  Carter...bless his heart. He is having those 2 year old irrational fears.  We were sitting outside on the patio and the wind was picking up. I was trying to adjust Grayson's balloon when it slipped out of my hand and went flying into the sky. Carter freaked out. He started to cry, grabbed Leanne's hand, and eventually was so scared he ended up sitting in her lap during dinner. Poor Carter.

Saturday morning we took the kids to a Elioak Farm.  They have a petting zoo, slides, structures for the kids to climb on, sculptures of storybook characters, and a hay ride (they also have pony rids - but we didn't do that.)  The kids LOVED the slides and the climbing structures.  They liked the hay ride and the storybook characters. They tolerated the petting zoo. Actually, Carter wasn't thrilled to be in the petting area. There were a few goats that did get a bit jumpy when trying to get to the food and that scared both of them.  And the loud bleating sheep were, well, loud. Carter said he is more of a city boy. :)  I think we'll go again in the fall when we have some cool weather (there is no shade there so mid summer would be miserable there) and see how they do.

Sunday we had to do our typical grocery store/breakfast run in the morning and after their nap we went to downtown Silver Spring.  Last year we started a tradition where the boys will each paint a ceramic tile every Mother's Day and we'll add the tiles to their mirror.  Last year we did their hand prints, this year we let them paint (which was exciting for them for all of 2 minutes) - but they got them done.  We ate a late lunch/early dinner and looked at books at Borders.

Monday we came up with (what we thought) was a brilliant plan.  Leanne was going to take the kids to the gym with her so they could play in childcare and Leanne could work out and I was going to stay home to clean the house (which is 100% faster when you don't have 2 little people under foot!)  Apparantly, the kids didn't think it was such a good idea.  They cried and cried and finally the childcare center had to call Leanne to come and get them.  At least my part of the deal went well - I did get the house cleaned.  After a short nap, our friend Suzanne and her 19 month old son Rhyder came over (also known as Rhy Rhy to our kids.)  The kids loved playing in the water table on the deck and the moms loved hanging out, chatting, and having a leisurely drink. Bliss.  Later in the afternoon, Jurgen arrived with food for grilling.  We had a great meal and it really is starting to feel like summer is here.
