Since my work has blocked my ability to blog during the day, my blogging has become much less frequent. I am sorry.
Summer is in full swing here and we are all loving it!!!
Friday night we decided to take them swimming. As soon as we pulled into the gym, Carter started saying, "no no no no." He didn't want to go to the childcare center. Now, it isn't because the childcare center is a bad place or that the people who work there are mean - Carter is just in a phase that he doesn't want to go anyplace were there won't be a mom or Mia. He doesn't like new things (even if he is with someone he knows/loves.) We got them into the swim suits and into the pool (with Carter still saying, "no no no." But after about 7 minutes he was smiling and laughing as I swirled him in the water. 3 minutes later the lifeguards came and told us that the pool was closed and if we wanted to continue to swim, we could go to the outside pool (where the water was cold and it was cloudy and windy. No thanks.) So we packed up and headed home. 15 minutes getting kids dressed. 10 minutes in the pool. 15 minutes getting kids re-dressed. OY.
Saturday was probably the kids' dream day. In the morning they played in the water table and played with our next door neighbor on the playground. In the afternoon we went to the children's museum in Baltimore with Mia and Thomas where they ran around, played, and rode the elevator (that is a BIG thing around here. If we see an elevator, Grayson runs to it saying, "PUSH PUSH PUSH!" And this weekend he started saying, "eleVAtor!" Over and over and over and over....) Afterwards we had a later lunch/early dinner and then a walk along the Inner Harbor to the boats. We rode the carousel (which was really the carousel from hell as we were "left" on it a minimum of 10 minutes. It was ridiculous. By the end, Carter was clinging to me for dear life and Grayson was saying, "All Done. Down. Get off. All done.") We topped off the night with ice cream from Ben and Jerrys. It was a wonderful day.
Sunday the kids did go to childcare at the gym. Carter ended up being fine and Grayson was the one who was so sad. That afternoon we went to Downtown Silver Spring where the kids got to play in the water fountain. They weren't so sure at first, but quickly got into it (cold water and all!) They had a blast. I am so sad I forgot the camera. We'd planned on going to the community pool, but a thunderstorm thwarted those plans. So we played until bedtime - when we all crashed from a wonderful but busy weekend.
