We are home from Savannah! We arrived in Savannah on Thursday afternoon. After a brief (ok, not so brief) stop at Wal-Mart to get toddler food, diapers, wipes, and toys we made it to my parent's house. My father had done a good deal of toddler proofing. But you know toddlers and their ways - they found every little thing that hadn't been moved. Shells covering the dirt in the potted plant? Check. Teeny gaps in the netting used to cover the stairwells? Check. End table that can be pushed around? Check. A/C floor vent? Grayson got it. I think by the end of day 2 we'd taped, rubber banded, or moved everything of danger.

Friday we all went to the mall where dotting grandparents bought the boys some winter clothes. Can you believe we had to buy Grayson 6-9 month pants? 6-9 months. Really, the kid does eat. And he is growing. But at 15 months, the 6-9 month pants fit perfectly (and even a teeny bit big!)

Saturday morning Leanne and I loaded the boys up and went to "downtown" Tybee (it is only about 2 blocks!) We walked out onto the pier and then went to the "world famous"Breaskfast Club. I've heard about it for years. It has been on the Food Network. People talk about it. It is famous (well, at least in Savannah) and people line up around the block to eat there. And yet in all the times I have been to Tybee, I've never eaten there. Now, I have. Because we were there so early (thank you, boys) we got right in. The place is small and crowded (especially when you come in with 2 toddlers and a diaper bag) and the menu is standard breakfast fare (minus a very important item to our kids. Pancakes. Not a freakin' pancake on the menu.) The food was okay. Not great. Not worth waiting for. But now we can say we've been....and we won't be back. When we got back we gave the boys a bath and got them in clean clothes, just about the time that my father came stumbling out of their room for the morning. He was a bit shocked that they were ready to take a nap - but they'd (ahem, we'd) been up for 3 hours! Ahh....life before babies. :)After a morning nap (for them, not us) our friend Robin arrived from Florida. Yea! We went back to downtown Tybee to look for t-shirts for the boys - and found that the choices for toddler shirts are slim and UGLY. But they did score buckets and shovels. We ate at Spankys. They have the best chicken fingers anywhere. And also the greasiest. Later that afternoon, Kappi (my friend from high school), her husband Brent, and their 2 kids came over to go to the beach. Our guys were most interested in the water. They could have cared less about the sand. And after about 30 minutes of being twirled around in the water, they both laid their heads down on our shoulders and went to sleep. In the water. Passed out. For at least an hour. As you might recall, Carter did this at the swimming pool not too long ago.

Carter fast asleep. (Don't worry, his back (well, his whole body) was slatered in sunscreen)

Sunday we woke up and realized that the power was out and it was getting warm fast. We hustled to get ready to go shopping for a new computer for my father (he kept wondering why his 8 year old computer (running Windows 98) was freezing up on him!?!??!) On the way back we got a message that power had been restored, but upon our return we realized that the a/c had burned out. The main level was cool, but the upstairs was really really really hot. We knew that the boys wouldn't sleep well in the heat and putting them to sleep on the main level because my parents were going to hang out down there till the sun went down and it cooled off a bit upstairs - plus they needed to eat dinner and the entire main level is open so there was no where that was going to be quiet. After weighing our options, we headed to a local hotel for the night. Let's just say, I won't be suggesting this place if you go visit Tybee.

Monday we hustled to get our stuff together (well, Leanne got our stuff together while I set up the new computer) and get to the airport. I love the Savannah airport for no other reason than it is virtually empty, leaving lots of room for boys to run/crawl/walk/bounce and get out a lot of energy. Carter fell asleep about 20 minutes after take off and Grayson fell asleep about 20 minutes later. Both slept until we landed. YEAH!We had a fabulous time. The boys had a wonderful having the run of the house (they are confined the our living room when we are on the main level of our house due to stairs/Abbey/pet food) and being able to get baking sheets out of the cupboards (Grayson loved the pizza pan!) We had a great time seeing my parents, taking the boys for rides in the GEM car (I am so bummed I didn't get a picture of them in their car seats in the car!)

If you talk to my father, don't let him tell you we feed the boys poorly. They eat fine. They like veggie burgers, vegetarian chicken nuggets, and soy milk. They do get an occasional cookie or ice cream. And they don't need maple syrup or Coke. At least not now. ;)
