No new pictures from this weekend. I seemed to have forgotten my camera everywhere we went!

Saturday we took the boys to a fabulous playground in Northern VA. Clemyjontri is designed to accommodate kids of all ages and abilities. The kids had a blast. It was crowded, but so big that we didn't have to worry about big kids pushing the boys, climbing over/through them, or losing sight of them among the crowds. We only lasted about 30 minutes because it was so hot in the sun, but we did get to ride the carousel before we left (Carter wasn't so sure about it at first, but was okay by the end and Grayson loved it.) We ended the day with a trip to Ikea. Who knew Ikea was so family friendly??? We ended up feeding them dinner there ('cause you know that running around in the sun makes you HUNGRY!) They got meatballs (that were obviously delicious and mac and cheese that Gray really liked (Carter doesn't like pasta!!! Is this kid really related to me????) There are play areas for them to play in to burn off energy, and the place is so busy that they didn't mind riding in the carts (well, as long as they could hold everything we were buying!) In the end, we bought some wooden blocks that they love, little plastic cups to practice drinking out of, a wooden table/chairs for their playroom, and some kid sized silverware. Wow. They really made out in that trip! :)

Sunday we headed over to the playground across the street from us. We chased the boys around and had a wonderful time. In the evening, we went on the deck to practice using their new cups. They love holding them and DUMPING the water from them. In the end, it ended up to be a mini water fight. :) And Grayson ended the weekend on a perfect note, by sleeping in his crib from 8pm-7am! :) Of course, in true twin fashion, Carter was up at 2am for a drink of water (guess he couldn't find the sippy of water I left in bed with him....)

I decided this morning that if you merge the two kids, we have a perfect sleeper:

  • Gray goes to sleep at night with nary a peep. You put him in his crib and he lays down on his pillow. Carter has been fighting sleep tooth and nail. Last night I sang 1001 versions on Wheels on the Bus. Shoot me.
  • Carter regularly sleeps through the night (although we've been having a blip in the system in recent weeks. I am blaming the arrival of his molars on his poor sleeping.) Grayson has slept through the night 8? times. Perhaps 9. Certainly no more than 10. :)
  • Carter loves napping. He often will take two 2 hour long naps a day. Sometimes even longer. We are lucky if Gray takes an hour once a day. The kicker is is that he is still so tired after just 45-an hour, that he'll fall asleep instantly if you take him to the basement and cuddle with him on the down comforter. But when you try to extricate yourself from his clutches, he wakes and clutches harder.

Silly kids.

It is so fun to watch them grow and learn.

  • If you say, "Bring your shoes to me, please." They will (well, some of the time) bring their shoes and then sit in front of you so you can put them on.
  • They've learned that you have to sit before going down the slide.
  • They can go down the stairs of the playground equipment by walking down them and holding on to the handrail (rather than scooting down bottom first on their bellies.)
  • Gray has started to hand us everything - including his sippy cup and food when he is done (MUCH nicer than his chucking it over the side and scaring Abbey to death.)
  • If they stat to wander off at the playground/park and you call after them, they'll come back (well, about 10% of the time. But it is a start!)
