I read (or heard) somewhere recently that if you find parenting easy, you aren’t doing it correctly. Well, we must be doing a spectacular job because by the end of each day (no matter how easy the boys have been) we are exhausted. Case in point. We were asleep by 9:15 last night. J
The rest of the weekend was great (once we stopped hauling the kids around on 1.5+ hour car adventures.) Sunday we all took a great morning nap, went to lunch, and then to the mall. We went home and let the boys run and play in the playroom and then headed to dinner (evidently they were exhausted. Carter fell asleep on the way there and slept in my arms while we waited for a table, ordered dinner, and waited for it to arrive. He only woke when I woke him to eat dinner. The look on his face when he woke in a noisy crowded restaurant was priceless.) And Grayson fell asleep on the way home (of course he woke as soon as the car door opened…) Sunday we went to Home Depot in the morning and found that these carts are a lot of fun. Of course we didn’t find what we were looking for, but the boys were just excited to be in the cart. They took another great morning nap, followed by lunch, a trip to the grocery store, and then had a playdate with their friend Olive and her moms (and our friends) Maria and Aaron.
After a few minutes Carter warmed up to the new people in his playroom, but Grayson went behind his playhouse (like this one)

(No, that isn’t Olive or the boys) and pressed his face against it and stayed there for 5? 10? Minutes. He was smiling the whole time, but he did.not.move. We finally got him out and then he did it again a little while later (after playing with the others.) But shortly before our guests left, Grayson developed a newfound interest in Olive. They stood face to face for a minute or two – just staring at each other, before Gray gently touched her face, and she smiled. It was so freaking cute. It was like he finally figured out there were other kids besides his brother and he was mesmerized – although he might have been mesmerized by Olive’s cuteness too!
And maybe they should have guests more often. They were out by 7:10 last night and we didn’t hear from them until 7:30 this morning. That is the longest they have ever slept. WHOO HOO!!
