We also made a weekend trip to Richmond to see friends and attend a county fair and then to Henrico Re-enactment village. Naturally one of the kids got sick (Carter) on the trip (since we LITERALLY haven't traveled ANYWHERE without a child getting sick.) But we had a good time and Carter's illness was short lived.
September brought round 2 of potty training (round 1 went to hell in a hand basket, after our long time nanny moved out of town. The boys totally regressed and we caved and went back to pull-ups.) Thankfully, this time was much easier and more successful (though 4 months later and we are still having accidents...sigh. But we haven't bought a pull up in 4 months. YAY!) The other big news was that Carter and Grayson started full time preschool. When Mia (our nanny) quit, we considered full time school, but didn't think they were ready to go all day. So we hired another nanny who lasted 5 weeks (she didn't quit because of our kids!) and the decision was made. We couldn't go through the hiring process again. So, in 1 week, I had scoped out preschools, identified 3 that we were interested in, Leanne toured them, we made a decision, and miraculously they had 2 spots. I still can't believe our luck. Once they started, clearly, it was US who weren't ready. The kids were MORE than ready. They took to school like fish to water...and as the director said when I called that first day, "You would never know this was their first day of school." YAY!
And then 2 weeks after they started school, we went to Georgia to visit my parents. The kids had a great time running on the beach, riding in their electric car (like a golf cart that is street legal), getting ice cream, and playing at the playground. Of course Carter got sick just before we left - but was able to keep up with us thanks to Motrin!
