I am slipping. I am not blogging nearly as much as I should and my pictures taking is slipping. Perhaps that it is because the kids are ALWAYS on the move and 1) getting a good picture is next to impossible and 2)I feel like I can't be distracted to take photos. We always need to have eyes on the kids at all times. Wow. Two 2 year olds are tiring. :)
This past weekend we marched in the DC Pride Parade. Well, we walked (we really didn't march) and the boys rode in their stroller. It was drizzling when we got downtown - but actually stopped for an hour or more while Leanne decorated the strollers and we all lined up (we walked with Rainbow Families DC.) But about 2/3 way through, the heavens opened and it rained. It was never a blinding rain, but a steady, constant, and annoying rain. Neither kid wanted to keep their rain shield on their stroller and so we were all soaked. At the end, we let the kids out of the strollers to run off some steam (and splash in the puddles) and ran into a local grocery store to find something for dinner. Thankfully, we had packed their pajamas, nightime diapers, and milk so we were able to change them in the van and they were asleep before we even got out of DC. And lo and behold, they actually both transferred to their cribs with nary a peep.
While the rain wasn't ideal, it was better than being miserably hot. The rain had cooled it off enough that it was really pleasant outside. There were still a lot of people along the parade route, but by the end, they had thinned and from what we could tell, the parade got moving very quickly once the rain came in (we were at the beginning.) The boys enjoyed it, I guess. They just sat in their strollers in awe (and barely moving) even though we'd practiced waving. Eh. Maybe next year, they'll want to wave back to the throng of admirers that lined the streets. And from what I heard, we were actually on the Fox 11pm news - but we didn't see it - and I can't find it online. Oh well.
