Saturday morning we went to get our Christmas tree. We knew that we needed a small tree this year since it will be near/in the boys play area in the living room, Gray is putting EVERYTHING into his mouth, and we had visions of the kids pulling the tree over. So we headed over to Lowes immediately after breakfast to go tree hunting. We thought the boys would have fun looking for a tree. HAHAHAHAHAHA.
We don't have a chimney, so Grayson looked for Santa in a cement block.

Splashing in puddles!

The boys with our tree! Guess we didn't need the bungees and twine after all!

After a nap, we went to lunch, and then to a holiday party hosted by my co-workers. While the food looked divine, we weren’t able to eat anything since we were chasing after our kids the entire time. Up the stairs. Down the stairs. Open the oven drawer. Find the dog toys. Up the stairs. Down the stairs. Find the computer wires. Open more drawers. We CANNOT wait till we can go to a party, talk to people, eat, and let the kids play with the other children without worrying that they are getting in some danger.
Sunday morning Leanne said, “If this was our old life, today would be a day that I didn’t get out of my pajamas and would stay in bed all day and watch movies.” But because we have a new life, we were at the grocery store at 8am. Afterwards we went over to Panera to get the boys a gingerbread bagel (ok, and a mocha for me.) While we were there this strange couple stared at us and whispered to each other the whole time. The woman would lean over to the man, then he would cut his eyes over to us, then she’d look over, over, and over, and over. At first I thought it was because the boys were looking pretty darn cute and being really good – just sitting in their highchairs munching their bagel – but Leanne thought they figured out that the boys had two moms. I am not so sure what was so entertaining about that. We weren’t being particularly entertaining. Leanne and I sat and ate our bagels, the boys sat and ate theirs, we chatted about going home to take a nap and going to see Santa, we cleaned up, put our coats on, and left. If they wanted entertainment, they should have focused their attention on the straight couple with their 3 year old having a temper tantrum. That was more entertaining. But whatever. We were just happy when we all finished and could get out of their spotlight. Leanne says she knows why celebrities go off on the paparazzi.
And since we aren’t used to coordinating our Santa visit yet, we didn’t get to see Santa this weekend. When we got to the mall at 1:30 (yes, we later realized it was a rainy Sunday afternoon – and going to the mall wasn’t a novel idea!), the line was snaked around and around. Plus, Santa takes a break from 2-3. Since that wasn’t going to work, we got a few things, let the boys play in the play area, got smoothies, and left. We’ll go see Santa one evening this week – and hope it is less crowded.
