We are back from our whirlwind trip to Tennessee. It was a wonderful trip! The boys were fabulous and so even tempered!

Here they are on the plane. On the flight there, the plane was only half full so they let us bring on their car seats. I love Southwest. Both boys were asleep almost immediately, but woke when the long-winded Captain came on the overhead speaker to announce we were at our "cruising altitude." I wanted to go to the cockpit and say, "Don't you know you have sleeping babies back here?!?!?" But I didn't and they were happy as little clams in their seats - looking around, singing, and playing. And we even got in a little bit of reading!


On Friday we took the boys on their first trip to the zoo. The boys saw Meerkats come up to them (behind glass), watched an elephant taking a bath, ate 2(!) warm pretzels, and rode the carousel. They also got to spend the day with their Uncle Greg and Counsin Gage (in addition to Nana and Grandaddy.) They had a lot of fun and were so tired, I think they were asleep before we even got out of the parking lot!

Saturday and Sunday we saw a lot of family, ate at Cracker Barrel (meatloaf, biscuits, and baked apples are DELICIOUS!), played with Gage's toys, and on Sunday the boys celebrated their birthday a few weeks early! Nana made 2 of her famous cakes and the boys LOVED it (so did we!!) We would have thought that Carter would have been the one sticking his fingers in the icing, but Grayson couldn't keep his fingers out of it! He kept shoving icing in his mouth Of course, the batteries in our camera died just when we brought out the cakes, but I am going to try to get some pictures from Lexie.

This just cracked me up!

Monday we were sad to have to fly home. The plane was full and since we hadn't bought them a seat, they had to sit on our laps. Let's just say that was the longest 2 hours I've had in a long time. They were squirmy. They were tired. They wanted to MOVE. We were cramped. It was a nightmare - and naturally they fell asleep with 15 minutes left in the flight. ;)

We are home now. Back in our routine. Trying to eat better (but still dreaming of that cake...) And trying to get the boys to sleep as well as they did in TN (who would have thought that they would have the best sleeping nights of their lives by sleeping in pack and plays in a strange house. But it was the first time they ever slept through the night simultaneously!) - Don't get too excited. It hasn't happened since. ;)
